FAQ

A. You may place your order up to one year in advance. We sell butterflies year round. During spring, summer, and fall we sell out quickly, so it’s a good idea to order as early as possible to assure that butterflies will be available for your event.

 A. Your butterflies will arrive one day before your event, usually by 10:30 am.

A. The number of butterflies you order is up to you. There are sold by the dozen. The more butterflies you release, the more breathtaking the moment. There are many options. You may choose a mass release, where a large number of butterflies are released all at once, from one release container.  You may also choose an individual release, where each guest releases a butterfly.  

A. We ship live butterflies using FED EX priority overnight Shipping.  Live butterflies are placed in glassine envelopes, and then put comfortably in a softly padded box.  That box is then placed in an insulated cooler box with an ice pack, so that the butterflies stay cool and comfortable for their trip.  Live butterflies must be kept cool until about one hour before the release.  This keeps them calm and healthy in a dormant type state.

A. Yes, at Farfalla Butterfly Company we guarantee that our butterflies will arrive alive and healthy.  Please inspect upon arrival.  If upon inspection you find that butterflies did not survive we must be notified immediately and the butterflies must be returned to us. Refunds for any expired butterflies will be issued within 20 days of return. Instructions must be followed carefully to assure that the butterflies stay alive and healthy until release.  Remember that they must be brought inside as soon as they arrive. Upon bringing your package inside, be sure to read and follow the enclosed instructions.  The butterflies must be kept cool until about 1 hour before the release. Less time is needed if the outside temperature is above 80 F degrees.

A. Yes, arrangements can be made for local pick-up.  Local pick-ups are by appointment only.  A pick-up time must be scheduled in advance and there is a $10.00 fee for local pick-ups.  We provide an insulated box and ice pack to keep your butterflies calm until it is time for the release.
